Event Description

This is an International exhibition celebrating the art and passion of the Atlantic Salmon Fly.  Over 70 world-class tyers representing 17+ countries are coming to Renton, WA for three days to share their experience, passion, artistry, creativity, and fly-tying tips & techniques with the public. This event presents a rare & unparalleled opportunity for the beginner to expert fly-tyer to meet the individuals featured in books and learn about this classic art-form from some of the most renowned tyers alive today.  It is truly a unique, one-time opportunity you do not want to miss! Nobody would tie these flies were it not for zealous salmon fly tyers sharing their knowledge face-to-face over the eras. The robust tradition grows as we continue to make new friends and share our passion with fellow enthusiasts.  While the Internet makes sharing knowledge easy, there is no substitute for tangible camaraderie and learning in person.  Exhibitors will be a fantastic source for fly-tying tools, feathers, materials, tinsel, and fly-fishing gear! A silent and live auction feature one-of-a-kind items rarely found on the open market. You can find out more about tyers, exhibitors, sponsors, presentations, demonstrations, and the silent & live auction on our website.  All profits from the event benefit Olympic Peninsula Fishing Innovations, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Sequim, WA that designs adaptive devices to allow those with physical limitations to fish again.
While the Internet continues to enhance information sharing, and there are regional clubs such as NWASFG, ASFI’s aim is to again cast a global net on salmon fly tiers to not only learn to improve their work, but, most importantly, continue to renew and forge new relationships. In order to optimize this opportunity, we have assembled another exclusive list of international Atlantic Salmon Fly tiers to demonstrate their skills for the Salmon Fly tying community, and currently no less than 17 countries will be represented, from Japan to Lithuania.

The best Atlantic Salmon fly tiers, creating hairwings to the most complex, gaudiest Victorian featherwings will demonstrate their skills and share their knowledge on tying and fishing these storied patterns. ASFI will not only feature fly tiers, but also have hook maker demonstrations and other seminars, so check back often to see what topics will be presented!

We look forward to your participation in maintaining the momentum of the tradition, and making ASFI 2016 an even bigger success!
